Joe Garofalo is Co-Director of the Center for Technology and Teacher Education and Associate Professor of Mathematics Education. He teaches courses in secondary mathematics pedagogy, problem solving, and mathematics education research, and coordinates the 5-year BA/MT secondary mathematics teacher education program at the Curry School. Joe's interests in mathematics education include mathematical problem solving, use of technology in mathematics teaching, and mathematics teacher education. He and his graduate students are currently developing materials to help mathematics teachers use various technologies to enhance their teaching of mathematics, creating interactive Flash mathematics applications, and exploring uses of handheld technologies in the teaching of mathematics and language arts. Joe also plays banjo in the Center's bluegrass band.
